I've tried almost all the tube-type lip balms without fragrance, and this La Roche-Posay lip balm was the second best in terms of moisturizing power. It doesn't just coat the lips with oil, but also replenishes moisture, leaving them soft and supple. The protective oil layer then forms on top, effectively preventing moisture loss. I was worried about the main ingredient petrolatum in Vaseline, so I tried this, and it was much less sticky and greasy, making it easier to use outdoors. The Vaseline one is better suited for using as a night pack, applying thickly on the lips, rather than for daily use. There was also less oxidation and temperature-induced changes, so I was satisfied with the stability of the ingredients as well. The tube form has a much smaller surface area exposed to air, so it's easier to maintain hygiene, which is my preferred type. Since it's fragrance-free, it didn't irritate my severely chapped lips.
